Advice required for selling a caravan - touring

Hello all,

We have recently inherited a pretty decent caravan, as I do not have a carsuitable for towing it I had to hire a car with a tow bar to move it and currently have it sited ata certified caravan/campsite.

Having used the caravan on several occasions we have decided it's just notfor us or the kids.

Question:

I have never sold a caravan before and wondered what it best way to go aboutit, i.e. it's currently sited at the campsite as they have a secure storagefacility and they tow in/tow out when we go there.

To any potential buyer would it look disingenuous if I sold it from thispremises? Or Should I tow it home and sell it from my driveway (which meanshiring a suitable car again)? I have allof the paper work in order such as the CRIS detail registered at my homeaddress.

I intend to advertise through caravan club, camping and caravan club, and other online sites but am unsure if I could/should sell from the site or home or does it not matter?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Regards:beer:

How old is the caravan? CRIS registered in your name or the previous owners?

I wouldnt be put off buying a caravan from a storage compound if the paperwork showed that you owned it.

If a buyer wanted to make sure then they could meet you at your house and follow you to the storage.

A little bit early selling it now. Maybe better to wait a few weeks. As the Bank Holidays start the prices can creep up. As people buy one site it for the season and resell.
    Saves on winter storage etc.

What is it BTW? I love my caravan.

  • It doesn't matter at all whether you sell from your home or on site. I've bought from both in the past.

You will have to check whether the site the caravan is presently on has any rules and regs about selling from there.

I wouldn't use CC or CCC for advertising. No particular reason for saying that - it's just I never look at them.

My preferences would be eBay and Autotrader, but try Gumtree first as that's free.

    Thanks for your responses!

All paperwork such as Cris is in our name, at our home address etc.

Just so you know it is a Sterling Europa 470 2008, with a Reich remote mover, extra spec model apparantly as it has two heated towel rowels, integrated micro wave etc.

I have checked with site and they have no problems me selling it from their site (as long as I am present throughout viewings, sale etc).

It was last serviced throughly 2 years ago, including changing akzo shot nuts?, various gas pipes due to age not wear, full damp report done etc etc.

We are the 2nd owners (late relative brough from new and was too ill to use it more than a handful of times) thus gave it to us and had it transported down.

Good points re: sale time, we'll wait until spring, and will also use gumtree too.

In which case the damp warranty will be void, not that it had much left (most caravans in 2008 gave six years).

Should be fairly easy to sell. Probably get between £6-8k at a guess. Assuming there's no damp anywhere.

Yeah all good to go then. Just watch ebay and gumtree etc. Try to catch it when they are selling faster.

And the usual things to watch for. Dodgy payments. FIL's, sons, goat wants it but is grazing offshore...

I would be tempted to remove the locks also. Put them on when they have gone. Just in case they are dodgy and come back to nick it.
They may not be expecting locks to be fitted.
