You know you don't need the card reader to login Nationwide's online banking? On the right-hand side just click "Log in using memorable data".
I did know that but was led to believe that if you do log in that way you are more likely to end up having to use the card reader to carry out some transactions like bank transfers/paying bills etc. don't like having to try and remember a customer number either, does the memorable data log in mean you don't need the customer number?0 -
No. You enter your 10 digit number and then progress to memorable data.I did know that but was led to believe that if you do log in that way you are more likely to end up having to use the card reader to carry out some transactions like bank transfers/paying bills etc. don't like having to try and remember a customer number either, does the memorable data log in mean you don't need the customer number?
In my experience you don't then need to use the card reader if making a payment to an existing payee, ie someone you've paid previously (I'm speaking about transferring cash to one of my other accounts held elsewhere...not paying bills).0 -
It's the customer number I can't remember! Smile was account number, halifax use a username both so much easier IMHO, mind to be fair I havnt put a huge amt of time into memorising it0

I have many accounts, and several 9 and 10 digit numbers to memorise (Lloyds, Nationwide, YB, YBS, and others), but the one I always have trouble with is my Santander 8 digit number for some very strange reason! Maybe it doesn't roll off the tongue like the others do. What's really strange is I could tell you now what my old A&L 12 digit number was (the one that preceded the 8 digit one)...and I haven't used it for years! It's the customer number I can't remember! Must be some kind of 'association' or 'rhyme' thing!0 -
Can anybody recommend a good account with a small overdraft and a bank with good customer service ?
First Direct.
They come highly rated for customer service and their accounts come with a £250 interest free overdraft as standard.
Also, you can qualify for £100 if you move your account to them.

If you can remember four numbers then you can remember your customer number as the first six digits are DOB.0 -

Just enter your customer number and then click the "Remember my customer number" box. When asked for passcode, click "Memorable data". Next time the customer number is pre-filled for you.
That would work for most of the time but it's a joint account and I am hoping one day that the wife may assist in keeping track of finances, it's unlikely but I live in homeIf you can remember four numbers then you can remember your customer number as the first six digits are DOB.YorkshireBoy wrote: »If that's correct, then Nationwide have my DOB as the 38th of the 17th 2099.
Not really, but you get the picture?
Same here, my customer number is nothing like my dob.0 -
I think it's only RBS group that forms the personal number as date of birth plus 4 numbers.0
