No. You enter your 10 digit number and then progress to memorable data.


In my experience you don't then need to use the card reader if making a payment to an existing payee, ie someone you've paid previously (I'm speaking about transferring cash to one of my other accounts held elsewhere...not paying bills).

It's the customer number I can't remember! Smile was account number, halifax use a username both so much easier IMHO, mind to be fair I havnt put a huge amt of time into memorising it

I have many accounts, and several 9 and 10 digit numbers to memorise (Lloyds, Nationwide, YB, YBS, and others), but the one I always have trouble with is my Santander 8 digit number for some very strange reason! Maybe it doesn't roll off the tongue like the others do. What's really strange is I could tell you now what my old A&L 12 digit number was (the one that preceded the 8 digit one)...and I haven't used it for years!


Must be some kind of 'association' or 'rhyme' thing!

Also, you can qualify for £100 if you move your account to them.

If you can remember four numbers then you can remember your customer number as the first six digits are DOB.

That would work for most of the time but it's a joint account and I am hoping one day that the wife may assist in keeping track of finances, it's unlikely but I live in home

Same here, my customer number is nothing like my dob.

I think it's only RBS group that forms the personal number as date of birth plus 4 numbers.
