Renault warranty and service question please advise
Hi I have a 61 plate clio 1.2 which was 2 yrs old at the end of sept 13. I looked in the service book but can't find the service interval so I went to my onboard computer which says it's not due for another 1,500 miles. My question is that I have just searched online the renault site and it says if the car is not serviced 2 yrs or 18 k the warranty is invalid, is this correct surely the sould put the service intervals in the book so owners know as I have just trusted my on board computer so now I'm stressing, you never know if u need ur warranty.... What do people think ......anyone experienced this?
Btw there is nothing wrong with my car that I know of.

The usual service interval is either on mileage or twelve months which ever comes first, so if the service interval is 12000 miles but after twelve months you have only done 8000 miles it should be serviced.0

So does that make my warranty invalid then? Surly it should state service intervals or something in the service book instead of just a page of blank stamps?0

I don't know about Renault but all the vehicles I have owned have had service schedules printed somewhere in the owners manual or service book as well as pages for the dealers stamps.0

I will have to contact renault as there is nothing in their handbook that guides when services should be done so if we're not told how are we support to know thanks anyway0

Can't really advise but this is from the Renault website
Servicing
The Vehicle must be serviced according to approved RENAULT standards as described to the Customer in the Owner's Handbook in order not to risk invalidating the Warranty should an incident be due to the lack of or quality of servicing.

Yes I can see that but the handbook the actually give you fails to supply this information, not impressed at all but I will ring them and see what they say0

My wifes Clio handbook was extremely clear in this.
What was not likely to be as clear was the information you were given by the dealer or salesman when you bought it.
But yes your car should be serviced every 18k if you do more than that in 2 years.
Or every 2 years if you do not exceed that mileage.
The older models also had a severe service interval which advised servicing at half the usual interval if used in certain circumstances. Such as lots of short trips, dusty environment or even Taxi/Courier use.
Get it serviced ASAP and likely it will make no difference unless they think the late service caused the problem
You warranty runs out in September so hopefully the vehicle will continue to be trouble free
I would use you supplying dealer if possible as if there is an issue they will likely be a bit more sympathetic to a continued customer
Don't bother using a local garage as Block Exemption will not apply as you have not stuck to the schedule.
You are not the first or last person to not read the handbook fully.
And to be honest the Renault h/b is one that fits all, usually with several different models and engines which encourage confusion0 -

Don't go on the offensive.
You are at fault.
Go down the "Oops i have made a slight error route"
At the end of the day the dealer wants to sell you a new car.
Modern oils are very robust and Renault seem to use Elf oil which is good quality.
The service was likely no more than an oil and oil filter change and perform any software updates needed and fill the screenwash.0
