can someone tell me if british gas charge a standing charge for emergency credit,? i used it last night and today just over 24 hours later i have 16p left i bought £6 to take emergency off but i needed to buy £8 i am not in debt with bg so where is the other £3,00 going? i rang them and was told i am being charged 26 p a day standing charge and the extra £3.00 will be on electric when i top it up to £8 but it won't i explained if i am being charge 26p a day it will be 52p so after putting£8 on key i should have £2.48 which i haven't got? they said they make you pay £8 back before the emergency comes off so people "didn't live on the emergency" :mad:

standing charge is daily/weekly regardless

Also known as fixed charge, this typically covers the cost of reading and maintaining energy supply meters, sending bills and dealing with enquiries

all the above have to be done regardless of being in credit, emergency or not having the heating on or cooking.
