I suspect the thread title should read Stupid User warning. Anyone reading the instruction leaflet should have noticed the warnings about over-filling.0

The op isn't as stupid as you think. We had one of these kettles & my oh half-filled it to make a cup of tea. She walked-away and the kettle burst into flames.
When we took it back, the Tesco worker commented that they have a high return rate of these due to them catching fire.Never Knowingly Understood.

With all due respect OP I think you've got this totally wrong and I'm pretty sure that anything with an overflow that directs water on to an electrical connection wouldn't get a CE mark.
A CE mark is basically worthless. Many products can be self-certified, and there's nothing to stop manufacturers just putting the mark on completely uncertified products.0 -
Whether it is or isn't an overflow pipe the fact still remains that on the inside of this kettle there is a hole that leads directly to the electrics...to buy it or not to buy it is of course your own choice. I'll be going to Tesco tomorrow to fill out the complaint form then they can take it from there, this thread is intended to be a warning in the mean time. Thank you all for your posts.0

I'm finding it really hard to understand that Tesco's are still knowingly selling a kettle that has such a high returns rate due to catching fire, also harder to understand that a 'victim' of such fire has'nt sued them due to Tesco's knowingly still selling such a dangerous item...or am I being stupid?0

I've never had a moment's problem with mine, though judging from the price it was bought at a different time.0

Same here.
Surely if there had been so many returns because of fire then a product recall would be in place?0
