BEWARE of Good Energy

My present contract with Staywarm coming to a conclusion on Jan 14th, I decided to search around for a new supplier. Which Magazine published a report on eco-friendly companies and top of the list was a firm called Good Energy. So on Dec 31st I went to the website and trailed through the various info supplying pages expected at some point to be asked for my previous year's energy consumption only to find that, without any warning, a page came up saying "Congratulations1 You have signed on with us and your energy supplies will be transferred by Jan 10th"
I was stunned. From what I had thus far seen on the website my inclinations were to NOT sign on with them. So I immediately sent an email explaining that I'd reached that point by mistake and would they please cancel it.
A week later I had documents in the post saying the same thing "Congratulations" and all that! I tried and tried to ring them but the line was always busy. So I phoned my present supplier to let them know what had happened and that I would be staying with them. They said they'd already had a request from GE to transfer my account and there was nothing they could do to stop it!
I eventually did get through to GE and the young lady was full of apologies and said she would put through a "erroneous transaction" chit and the request to E-on 'should be' withdrawn within ten days! By this time it was Jan 8th and it looked like I was going to be left without fuel!
I rang E-On again and they said not to worry, they would ensure that didn't happen as long as the ET had gone through.
So I happily believed that everything was okay until today when I got another letter from GE saying "Great news! You'll be getting Good Energy Gas from 6th Feb 14"!!!
Of course it's now Saturday 1st and they only work office hours so I can't contact them till Monday 3rd!
Please somebody tell me how I get this monkey off my back! They are nuts!
Don't anybody reading this go to Good Energy unless you are absolutely SURE you want to use them.
I know I never will again - ever!

I have arranged to transfer back to good energy, I was with them until 2 years ago. They were fantastic and always responded quickly to e mails and phone calls. I am so looking forward to getting back to fantastic service and away from edf, who are carp. I have nothing to do with good energy btw, except for having been a very happy customer
I had the letter today with a dd mandate and giving me a clear 7 days in which to cancel my request, all you had to do op was to cancel in writing. I don`t see how you can have been told your date of transfer so quickly, I don`t expect a date for a couple of weeks at least0 -
Well quite! But I have the letter here in my hand. I'll scan it and post it if you don't believe me.
All I said was true. I never ticked a box that said "agree to T&C" or anything like that. I was browsing the site and looking for the usual info - clicked the 'next' button and suddenly get this page up saying "Congratulations on becoming a Good Energy customer"!Also known as "Flaglady" because I love using flags in church!0 -

good energy have terrible customer service - they never get back to you/do what they say they will. im very pro 100% green energy and they are the only company that is 100% green - but they need to sort their act out.
no smart meters
no responses
no online billing/my account
direct debits that are SO wrong even after 3 years with them
multiple answers to the same question that contradict each other and mean i end up spending more!0 -

My change to good energy is right on target. DD set up and change will complete in two weeks. A1 company. I have used them previously so know how good they are and how quickly they respond to queries0

Well, I really pleased for you. But I have to report that it's taken them almost SEVEN weeks to cancel the erroneous transaction caused by their faulty website. And in the meantime I've been subjected to a constant flow of letters delightedly assuring me that the transfer will go ahead in a matter of days.
I'm 72. I'm pretty accustomed to looking after myself so I'm not timid about taking on these companies. But given the E-on have told me that there was nothing they could do to stop or reverse the transfer, this has given me more stress than I have experienced in a very long time. I can do without that.
And though GE were easy enough to contact after the first trying efforts, they have never been in the least apologetic or reassuring that things would be cancelled and put to rights. I think it's shameful.
I was even told by one customer service rep that it was impossible there was a page missing on their website (there was!) so it must have been my fault and that I was "probably not used to using the computer and didn't know what I was doing"!!!!
FYI I have used a computer since 1988 and been on the internet since 2000! I am also a computer coder, have set up and run several websites and forums from scratch. I also do a lot of shopping and banking etc., online, so think I know when the confirmation page on a website is missing.
However, today I finally received an automated letter saying they were "sorry to see me go" which I take to mean the transaction has finally be completed. When I read the opening line saying that, I thought "not half as much as I am delighted to see you go"!
What a nightmare!
