    Because card charges for CREDIT cards are proportionate to the transaction value, there is no reason for any minimum transaction size. For DEBIT card transactions, obviously the fixed card cost to the merchant may exceed their profit if the transaction is a very small amount.

    But most retailers don't discriminate between DEBIT and CREDIT cards, which is slightly missing the point.
