Ordered on ebay, sent by Amazon

I ordered an item on ebay and it was sent to me by Amazon. I know some people sell the same items on ebay and through Amazon Marketplace, but this item is also "fulfilled by Amazon", so it arrived in Amazon packaging, with an Amazon packing slip, Amazon return address and was even delivered by Amazon Logistics!
Has anyone come across this before? It's not really a problem (won't even affect me unless I have to return it - not sure where/who I'd return it to), but i'm just curious. How would this set-up work? Wouldn't they end up having to pay fees to both companies?

Sorry, I should have been clearer, the ebay ID and Amazon ID are the same, so it's the same person selling on both websites. Also, the item is slightly cheaper on ebay than on Amazon!0 -
Yes, it's (strangely) Fulfillment by Amazon. You as an eBay seller send Amazon your stock, they store it and any orders you get from eBay/Amazon/Your own Website they pack and dispatch the order for you.

Ah I see, that makes sense! I've always thought fulfilment by Amazon was just for orders made through Amazon, didn't realise sellers could link to "multi-channels" as they've put it. Learn something new.....and all that....thanks
