I think I may have to think about letting my dog go soon, she is 15 1/2 so has had a good life.
Her legs seem to be getting weaker and we have a stand off if she doesn't want to go out for a stroll, the trouble is she is still eating but sleeping a lot, gets very excited if it's bed time as she knows she will have a biscuit or two plus her teeth chew.

Has she seen a vet? She may be in pain which is why she doesn't want to go for walks (it has been very cold and wet lately).
It's so hard when a much loved pet deteriorates. Enjoy the time you have together."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
she does go to the vets for checks, the last time was a couple of weeks ago. I know she has a heart murmur, but really she is just getting weak in her back end she cannot hold her poo anymore and she has had a couple of strokes. Will be taking her to the vets Monday or Tuesday when I can get an appointment, just to see what they say.Treat other's how you like to be treated.

I think you know in your heart when it is time to let your dog go. We had that unfortunate experience a couple of weeks ago.
Like mrcow said, enjoy your time together and know you are doing the right thing if you have to make that decision. So sorry for what you must be going through right now x0 -
I understand how you feel as I went through this last week. Hard as it is please get the vets advice. Enjoy whatever time you have left and left her know you love her x.0

take the vets advice - if they are willing to let her go on then fine. when the time comes they will tell you. or you will know yourself your lovely girl is at the end of her road.
said it before and will say it again. From experience, its better a week too early than a week too late and they suffered.0 -

This is my feeling as well, I haven't taken her to the vets as she has picked up again, when she went a couple of weeks ago the vet was pleased with her.
I think it's because of her age that I'm not sure what to do, the vet said about her legs (as he did see what happens, she just sinks to the floor) that she is just getting old and tired, I love her to bits, she has been with me when my life was horrible.
I don't think she is in pain, just stiff and she now sleeps most of the day but as soon as I go into another room she gets up and follows me.Treat other's how you like to be treated.

I really feel for you harrys nan.
It's so painful when a much loved dog who has been by your side through good and bad reaches this point.
I've been there a few times and it never gets any easier.
Sending you hugs and thinking about you at this time.0 -
Oh sweethaeart .. you will know when the time comes.
You have been there for her the whole of her life .
The last loving thing you can do for her is to make sure that the end of her life is peaceful and pain free..
TC and a huge HUG from me

It's so difficult isn't it, I had to make that very hard decision last September whether to call it a day with my beloved horse. My vet was helpful in making that decision, as they have no emotional attachment to the animal like we do, and they can see things from a rational perspective. My lovely boy had got to the stage where he was crippled with arthritis and I feel like I left him a couple of months too long :-(.
Big hugs to you and your girl x0
