  • Happy February!

Day at home today with the boys. Hubby is going to stay with a friend overnight so we'll be entertaining ourselves.

I've got to return some things in town this morning and pick up a few bits. Nothing big, so spends at a minimum.

Remember last June when I was apply for my dream job. Well yesterday I handed in my notice. I've no job to go to but we can live on hubby's wage while I look.

Bridge finale on tv tonight. Can't wait!
  • Good Morning chums ,strange light in the sky this morning ,cor blimey its the sun :):):).Don't think its due to last the day but just to see it after all the grey skies and rain makes a welcome change.
Eldest DD is coming today instead of tomorrow as her OH is off to West Ham for the footie, and we are going to have a catch-up and good long natter.
Thank goodness is a nice brand spanking new month, and January has gone at last.
The nights will start to draw out and hopefully spring will arrive.
I am hoping to declutter some paperwork this morning so DD can cart it off to shred in her huge shredder at her school on Monday.I have a shredder but its a wind the handle one which takes ages and its not very sharp either OK for small bits but I have lots of stuff that needs to be got rid of,bank statements etc going back several years.
Right time for some breakfast and get stuck in.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and the weather is kinder to you all
    Cheers chums

    Hi
I did go back to bed about 4ish & slept some more.
Nice to see you posting Molly, I hope things get easier for you soon.
Hubby was dropped at work at 7:30, DGD has had crumpets for breakfast, I've had porridge & we've have been cutting and sticking, I'm taking her home soon.
DW & WM are both chugging away, I'm washing 4 yellow seersucker tablecloths that I've been given, no idea what I'll do with them but they can go in my fabric stash.
    Have a good day all
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all,

Sorry been missing for a couple of days, hope everyone is ok. Been a bit down with my leg and I've managed to pull a muscle in my chest making moving around very difficult. Who knew it hurts so much to cough:eek:
It's lovely and bright this morning. Hubby is cooking bacon and then we will have the usual Saturday clean up. He has to pop out to work later. This evening we've been asked to go to our friends just up the road. I'm going to force myself although really don't feel like it. They always make us very welcome, I'm just not good company at the moment. We love the Bridge as well tenyears ago will have to record it.
My middle son started a business about a month ago. He has been through a bad bout of depression this year so I'm even more pleased it's going really well, he is much happier which makes my heart sing :D
Youngest did well in his mocks so I'm glad he's finally decided to put some work in. My dd and DGS are away at her fellas until tomorrow and my beautiful son in Australia is doing well.
I find it much more stressful now they are older, much easier when they are babies and you know where they are, I'm lucky with my DIL but I've been there in the past.
Anyway better get on, love and hugs to all x

  • Good morning everyone :)

Great sleep last night and a lie in reading my book then brekkie made by wonderful DH. Perfect morning so far.

DGD is coming to stay tonight so will no doubt hear lots more about the dreadful bead. Her ear does not seem as hot and she is not in quite as much pain so it appears the antibiotic drops may be working and we may get rid of it next week.

Story yesterday about bead sneezed out of nose, reminded me of my friend's son who for some reason known only to himself once put a pistachio nut up his nose! Our planned social evening turned into a prolonged visit to Alder Hey but they got it out in the end.

Will be watching The Bridge on catch up tomorrow. am devastated it is finishing tonight but there seems to be a new Belgian series starting next week.

Better get tidying, the house looks like a bomb has hit it and I need to get the washing machine on the go too.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Hi everyone,

I managed to get a good sleep last night after averaging 4 hours a night since Sunday so I feel much better.

I'm not going to mum's today, the house is sorted more or less until we get probate, brothers are going to finish sorting the rubbish outside. It may seem a bit callous to some people that we've pitched right in but brothers all had time off this week and we're not the types to sit around mourning. Neither of our parents had any time for emotional shows. Mind you the funeral will be hard - it's two days before the first anniversary of dad's death.

DD and her bf are with us this weekend so while the sun is shining briefly we aim to go for a walk.

Mollie, glad to hear the beeyotch has finally gone.

    ¡Hola!
It was sunny earlier, but has clouded over now, and turned cooler for sitting outside without cardigans 18.7C:o so thought I would pop inside (not much warmer I might add) and catch up with the thread and some paperwork.
Camelot Ask for advice over on the Techie thread both for help with your old, and what is a good buy for a replacement. Personally when my desktop dies, I shall not replace it but just stick to the laptop and iPad. I have the laptop out here set up with a screen & keyboard, so it is just like a desktop but much less cumbersome.
We had a good night at the Chinese NY on Thursday night, but did not sleep well, so spent yesterday just chilling, apart fora trip to Lidl, and to pick up a gas bottle for a widow neighbour who does not drive. DH often ends up as the strong arm for some of the older ones.:A
Today I decided to make the Meatball Soup, a recipe I got from a magazine out here, but could not find it on the laptop for some reason, so did a web search, and lo and behold, found it, i had posted it on the daily thread from 2009 which MSD had started. Now copied into my recipe folder. Will bulk it out a little with some spaghetti pieces like a ministrone soup, when near to serving. It will make enough for 2 or 3 times, so will freeze what is left over.:D
Was just talking to a lady we know near us who was widowed a few years ago, and she is selling up and returning to the UK, near her children/grand-children and great grand-children. She is going to rent a flat, and enjoy her money, with no garden to maintain, and a much smaller place to keep clean. She has realised her limitations, and has acted accordingly, I hope that I can be as wise if ever necessary.
We have been invited out to a neighbours for this evening, so must set up and tape what we watch, as we don't watch soaps, we find Mon-Weds. very little to watch. Never started The Bridge, shame because it sounds like it could have been a good watch.
Molly I will share snoozer's comments - glad to hear the beeyotch has finally gone. I hope you can talk some sense into your M&D.
LW Re your comments yesterday, it doesn't matter who earns what, it is that you are together. Go and enjoy Brugges while you can.
I had a lovely relationship with my MIL, and hoping I can have one with my DIL-to-be too.
(((hugs))), Spoons, etc., all round - Take care everyone. DG

Good job I had my wits about me in town today; shopping in a certain chemist with the same name as things you wear on your feet in winter....
Purchase was £14.99; I had a voucher for £2.00..... and the total the assistant was gaily going to charge my credit card was..... £27.98
Gods alone know what she'd done, but she was none too pleased when I queried it.

Ah well, all errands away from the house are now done, including my six-monthly visit to the audiologist, who spends more time chatting about dogs than anything else :D

Got to help Mr LW turn the mattress in a minute.:)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Afternoon all,

half time just ending - I like the internationals that are not against Scotland : DH comes from there...

"Apocalyptic" weather here according to local rag, well it's certainly wet and windy with nasty hailstorms.

Very quiet in the town centre this morning while we were perusing the 99p shop and saving 12p against the £1 shop.

HM soup for lunch and quorn korma for dinner with manky fruit transformed into a fruit salad.

Just started 2nd book out of a box of Agatha Christie novels - 70+ to get through, so on a book a day I'll be busy till mid April :rotfl::rotfl:

    Stay warm and safe x
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Busy day today, it was lovely and sunny, bit chilly in the wind though, starting to look like rain again now :(

Went down to the market and got the weekend fruit and veggies.
Had to pop into Wilko and change a hair colour because I got the wrong shade, got some more of the kitchen roll but forgot the bin bags facepalm.gifI have to pick up a prescription on Monday so I will get them then.

Then we went to see the outlaws and took the £1.50 bargain weeder down to them, MIL was really pleased with it. Didn't get home until 3pm  Still all the washing that DH pegged out on the line before we went was dry :D

    snoozer x x

It is 28 years tomorrow since we lost my Dad and 10 years in September since we lost Mum :( It really has flown by.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
