Do you know how you paid the premium the last time it was due for renewal ? If so, you could contact the bank or card company to get the statement info for the period.

How did you arrange the Insurance ? If you did it via a comparison site, there may still be a record on your account.

Can the MID people help ?

The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

I thought your NCD expired if you didnt use it for a year but I may be mistaken.
Good news on the job, well done.

Most insurance companies will accept NCD that are 2 years old.

Co-op, I believe, will accept no claims for up to 3 years after it was last used. They're very much the exception though, two years is more standard.

If you arranged insurance over t'interweb, a trawl through your Emails from two years ago should bring up a confirmation Email.

Or you can get them from a subject access request from the MID. This costs £10 and takes a while

Or, if you got confused and thought you'd been in an accident with a car with your registration number two years ago you'd be able to get them instantly for £4, though this may involve breaking the data protection act in some obscure harmless way - not sure if it's illegal to improperly procure the release of your own data

Depends on the insurer. No claims discount is basically a marketing gimmick. There are no universal standards on how it's applied.
