Steriliser advice please

Hi there. My due date is in 2 weeks time. Although I plan to breastfeed initially, I'm not making any assumptions that I'll be able to, so I want to be ready with bottles and formula too. I have noticed that sterilisers come with a started pack, so whatever steriliser I go for, I'll probably end up going for the bottles too. I've noticed how expensive Avent teats have got in the last couple of years, so I'd like to avoid their bottles. Could anyone recommend a microwave steriliser and the cheapest place to buy it from? I was going to go for Tommee Tippee but I've read reviews that it's very fiddly. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

You could just leave the steriliser for now and boil everything in a large pot with the lid on for 10mins.
I did this with the second one as I was bottle and breast at the beginning.
I did get avent bottles though. He is now 2 and still uses them with the spouts as he can't yet use a cup.0 -
The reality is that I will at some point end up bottle feeding so might as well get the stuff I need from the beginning, I don't think that boiling for 10 min is practical. There's no question about wanting a microwave steriliser, the issue is which one.0

I had a boots one (came without the bottles). Nice and simple - can't remember the model/name though! Came in handy for sterilizing dummies for my breast feeders. Why not post on you local freecycle group, there is always surplus baby equipment knocking about!0

Hi used a MAWS micro steriliser with my 2nd and have got another one for this one(due tommorrow),never had a problem with it,it will sterlise 6 at a time and if you keep the lid on will keep the bottles sterilised for 3 hours
as for bottles with my other 2 and also this one have always used boots bottles with the oldest i did change to a different teat as he used to get really windy, got mine when they were 3 for 2
got my steriliser of ebay for 56p so total bargain,i do think sometimes its trail and error with teats and bottles

you don't have to use avent teats with avent bottles.
any teats for wide necked bottles should work, I've used boots own and mam0 -
i have the tomee tippee steam sterilser and have had no problems with it. it takes 8 minutes to do a full cycle (warmup sterilise and cool down) i also use their closer to nature bottles as well which are great.
it was on offer in tesco at 1/2 price so even better0 -
check out your local freecycle with a wanted add. people always have baby stuff they dont need and are happy to give to a good home
