Anybody used/heard off servicingstop.co.uk
Just come across this website. Now through the checkout process i've entered my car registration number and my postcode and it gives me the option for an MOT only for £24.... this includes collection & delivery of the vehicle.
Sounds too good to be true........ anybody heard of them? Or even used them?
Was considering using them, but don't want any repairs being undertaken!! Just the cheap price with the added convenience

If you do get the MOT for £24, god knows what sort of "problems" your car might fail the MOT on. MOT's are usually only £30 anyway (area dependant I know) but I would find somewhere trustworthy.
After all, if it looks too good to be true........
/edit - and much like fixed servicing packages, the Full service at £130 includes 99% of checks that you can do yourself, and an oil and filter change!
I can do this on my car for £15 and then do the checks myself, so £130 is a bit much!!0 -
Is this one of the schemes where someone comes along and takes your car to some unknown garage?
Find somewhere local, Keep using them and get chatty so they can tell you what may need doing next year.
Even if it costs you £10 more.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I know someone who used this as they didn't know the local area.
The company does take the car to a local garage. In this case, it did go a good local garage which is well known in the area. The MOT was done okay, though there were legitimate failures.
The trick is that they also take a percentage of any repairs, and as I recall it was a lot of cash that was paid over the top in these fees.
The person I know will be calling the garage directly in future.0 -
I used them for a full service
It found them pricey and as part of the service it says they wash and vac your car before returning it. They didn't do this which annoyed me after paying £550 all in all. I did snap a suspension spring which needed replacing, air con regas was £75, bit pricey, and they 'investigated' some electrical interference that I hadn't noticed driving the car. They will charge you for all they can.
I wouldn't use them again, better to go to the garage direct and not pay their inflated commission on the work done._________________________________________

Another advantage is I can have it mot'd if its uninsured as its collected and returned... Now I may have to think about doing one before the insurance switch over this week. Sounds like a good idea, but I simply don't want ANY work doing by their testing station and don't want them to see an incentive to fail parts that otherwise wouldn't fail!0

i took a punt using Servicing Stop. The service i received was excellent. The garage that picked up the car were on time. No extra work needed to pass MOT, only a couple of advisories, but no pressure to have this done.
So all in all, a good experience.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

You are miles better off using a local garage. My corsa been to a local garage for service every year and for any extra work needed. The garage treats me like a loyal customer and doesn't even think of ripping me off and being honest as he knows I will be back.
The MOT is done at a MOT centre up the road, the garage takes it there for me as well after a service.
I took the car to kwit fit last year and the year before to D&D. Both came out with a list of issues. Both times said my tyre was near limit. Here it is 3 years later on the same bloody tyres. No advisory at all. Kwit fit said exhaust needed replacing. (No it doesnt) and D&D lied on a repair needed (only need a small part the rest was fine). Funny enough the local garage used to use D&D for MOTs but after I went to them about the repairs they dropped them, clearly didn't like them ripping people off.
The usual MOT centre which was used this time did fail the car once so they do their job correctly. They dont have a workshop so they have no interest in making up jobs.
A final reason why you use local garage. My car broke down last year. I got it towed to the garage and they checked it over. It needed a proper computer check which only vaxuhall can do at a cost of £50. But they had a mobile guy who did it for £30. Found what caused the problem. They removed the part gave it to me as it needed a recon (gearbox part), I got it repaired they put it back in. They only charged me £35 washed the car and it was parked there for a week. My last service and MOT at vauxhall resulted in a £1600 repair bill, which was done by the local for £225. Thats after he swore several times at the report and price list from them as he couldn't believe how much different he was charging and them. He doing well he got a aston martin!
If you find a garage like that, use them dont go anywhere else. My corsa done over 110,000 miles and its just as good as I got it.0 -
Don't touch them with a barge pole!
You'll get a call informing you of a whole host of work that needs doing, everything from bulbs to brakes, oil leaks and it'll all sound very serious!
Best thing is to check around your car yourself for the main points then whip it in to a council MOT centre, if it passes then great, if not then you find out what needs done and only need to pay for a partial re-test.
Then look to have the work done by a good local garage, always get prices from a couple of places and check reviews for them on google before using them.0 -
Do not use this company . My mot had expired so I was running out of options for getting someone to perform the test, I came across Servicing stop and thought it sounded to good to be true .However after reading numerous reviews I started to feel a little more reassured. I entered my details and was quoted £24.00 and informed someone would call to confirm booking. All seemed to be going smoothly. The day before I had a call to confirm again. On the morning I was told that the car would be collected anywhere between 8 and 10 am. After ten had come and gone I had to telephone twice to find out what was happening. Eventually the car was collected at just after twelve.
I waited patiently and around 4pm the company telephoned to inform me of a failure and gave me a list as long as your arm with several items wrong and I was given a price to fix each one. At the end of the list I was astounded as I had previously had someone give me a pre mot check and all was ok. So I asked for the car to be returned.
I had the list of failures and the car looked at the next day and there were some things that were blatanly damaged i.e gaiters sliced with stanley knife! An exhaust that was supposed to be loose had been fixed by exhaust garage the week prior so this was wrong.I was told headlights needed to be realigned mechanic found the retainer clips for bulbs had been removed and put inside the headlight lens. The total sum for repair by them amounted to five hundred plus vat . I had the car re mot'd the next day and it sailed through so definitely a big scam going on here.I am in the process of informing Trading Standards and complaining to get some sort of compensation for damage to my car0
