Copy of decree absolute!

Hi, my mum is trying to get a copy of her decree absolute from about 35 years ago! She needs it to get her first passport, she has tried the county court but the have no record & have told her to get in touch with the principal registry, family division, she rang them yesterday and the are going to charge her about £90 for every ten years they have to go back!!

Just wondered if there was any other way for her to get hold of it??

It's £65 for a 10 year search - if it was "about" 35 years ago then a search for 1973-1983 should find it.

does she genuinely not know in what year she was divorced?

Just put a search on find my past. Or similar site or free bmd
It will show up a divorce date at least.
My oh did that and applied over the phone for a copy it cost a small amount.
