Car insurance - changing name after marriage
Comments
-
When a woman is married her name does NOT change.
Any change is the woman's decision.
She has the option to continue using her maiden name if she wishes.
I know of no law that says a woman can't have a passport in her original name and a driving licence in her new name or vice versa.
As long as there is no attempt at deception I fail to see what the problem is if a woman chooses to stick with her maiden name.
Can anyone tell me the precise Act and Section where it says that an offence has been committed if a woman chooses to continue a passport or driving licence in her maiden name.
All I have heard so far are vague references applying to failure to notify a change - that can only be after the woman has decided to change a specific document.
And who would know when the woman has decided to change.
None of this applies to the OP who I think has decided voluntarily to change her name to that of her husband.0
