Excess charge on courtesy car provided after motor insurance claim

Can anyone tell me whether I actually need to take out Damage Excess Waiver on a Courtesy car provided via my insurance company after a bump. Just going through very first motor insurance claim after driving for 26 years and felt had no choice but to buy the policy to protect me if the Courtesy car was damaged while in my use.


Can I claim this charge back as out of pocket expenses while my car being repaired after bump?

Is it a genuine courtesy car or is it a (Credit) hire car?

Hi! It was arranged by the garage doing the repair as they didn't have a courtesy car available. They arranged 3day hire from local car hire place so they have paid the basic hire fee. My car isn't yet ready, so I would have had to pay this fee again if I continued the agreement. I returned the vehicle today as per 3day contract. The repair garage have offered one of their vehicles, but will have to pay another £28 if I use their car.
