personally, unless i was medically incapable, i wouldnt have anyone walk my dog.

I have heard too many stories of dogs going missing when out with dog walkers....

Also reading the above, i wouldnt let any randoms near my house....

Right - so I assume you do not work or have someone who does not work and can take the dog out ?

I have a dog walker, a very good one, she would NEVER give anyone my keys/ask anyone to walk my dog full stop. No worries here.

OP - your dog walker is very irresponsible. Have a word with him/her.

Maybe unlikely but imagine - strange person opens the door, dog bites. What then?
  • Seriously ..... I would be absolutely LIVID if some random person came to take my dog out - that I know nothing about and has maybe never met the dog before .... not to mention a total stranger having keys to my house that I've never met

My dog walker would no longer be my dog walker if he did that even once!

I have to say I completely agree!! You are being FAR from unreasonable in expecting advance notice (or indeed last minute notice if due to illness) and I second the other comments about validation of how your dog walker selects his replacement....

I would also recommend ( if you don't already) a signeded contract or agreement, that your dog walker takes full responsibility for the actions of his replacement (I.e full responsibility for care of the dog/s and any damage/ loss in reference to your property)
