Hi,
I make my own pizza and use a mixture of tomato puree and tomato sauce on the base? just enough for a thin layer over the dough. I make my own dough too. I also cook on a multi-fuel cooker so it heats the water and does the heating as well as the cooking so i know that it can be done!! I buy gammon joints, the big ones are half price in Sainsburys at the moment, they usually do us a couple of easy meals and the leftovers get thrown into soup which is cheap to make. I make all my own biscuits and cakes which also works out a lot cheaper than buying choc bics etc. We are a family of five - 2 adults, 17yr old, 12 yr old & 9 yr old. I think if you meal plan etc you should be able to do it within your budget!
Good luck!

It took me ages to get used to my Rayburn, i also have to turn cakes etc around during cooking, i use the cold shelf a lot too when the oven is too hot.
Most things i cook lower in the oven that the recipe suggests, it's trial and error!
