Dell tablet problems

Hi there,
just after new year I purchased a dell tablet from a web retailer. After approx. 1 week I realised that one of the drives wasn't working properly so I contacted Dell support by email a couple of times and didn't even get a reply so eventually called them.
The chap said that I had to return the tablet to Dell to be fixed and the unit was picked up the next day but has now been away for repair for 2 weeks and, due to alleged part shortages, they have no ETA for the repair.
I now seem to be stuck in the position that I can't return the faulty unit to the retailer that I bought it from for a replacement and I'm stuck waiting on Dell for a repair which might take months.
I only had the item for a couple of weeks before sending it off for repair and I find the poor service from Dell rather disgraceful.
Do I have any rights to demand a new unit from Dell or am I stuck waiting for a repair ?
Many thanks in advance !

You have no rights to demand anything from Dell other than what's detailed in the T&Cs of their warranty. If you want to exercise your consumer rights you must do so with the retailer.0
