The reason the clutch does not kick in is because there is no gas in the system, there is a low pressure sensor that prevents the clutch kicking in if the pressure is none existent or low.
This is exactly right. Every car I have had is the same. Just get the system leak checked and regassed and you should be sorted. It's a cheap fix.
As for the oil leak, as long as its not pouring out at a rate of knots, fill it to the max mark on the dipstick and get it to the nearest garage. Forget Arnold Clark. Waste of time.0 -
Sometimes in the summer places do cheap regassing. Last year i ended up getting mine done for £10 at a car breaker just because i asked what they do with the old gas.
As cajef said, if the pressure is low the clutch wont engage. in the summer kwik fit did an offer where if it wasnt colder you didnt pay.
Oil leak wise, clean what you can and try and see where its coming from.0 -
I'll get the gas checked after the oil, and give an update, but that could be a while.
as for the oil leak it has left left a puddle in the cowling and sprayed the engine bay, seems to be dripping onto the belts to spray. It makes a whineing noise, a bit like a dry bearing, and the computer says I'm doing 52mpg going down hill with the clutch in.... used to say 99.9.
The leak was a surprise, tho i'm not sure how much oil leaks in 30mins but I've never seen ao much in any car I've had before. lol
Arnold Clark will be avoided, and i'll use my usual garage but he's booked till next week.
Last oil read was at minimum, so i'll dip again and decide if i can drive it about 2 miles without seizing up..... the only good side is compared to the mondeo, that went with a bang and melted most the internals, this car hasn't..... yet.....Loan - £4668.56
