I'm so glad I'm not the only one who knew! He's booked in for a contact lens appointment which is only £15 with a free trial and they're going to do the last adjust adjustments with it.

Good luck with them-hope it all goes well

I've used them for contact lenses for about three years, they're cheapest for my lenses as well. I only ever paid for the first assessment, the others have been free.

Wow looks like Asda is the place to go.

Sorry to sound thick, but how thin are the included price thinner lenses? My prescription is high and result in jam jar bottom lenses if they are not thinner . My las t pair cost £300 so this deal sounds too good to be true.

Do you also know how much it is to have transitions put in?

Does not look like my local store has an opticians but at this price it's worth a trip to the next town.

They use an index for the thinness (as do all opticians) so it's really hard to know by comparison what it means in real life. If you're able to go relatively easily, maybe they'll be able to tell you by comparison to your old glasses?

I can't see anything about transitions - I think the assistant said if you're having 2 for £99 one could be sunglasses (could be wrong) but I've just bought him some expensive standard sunglasses so he can use contacts with them.

If you call them to make an appointment especially if you don't have an up to date prescription you could ask - this is the offer http://opticians.asda.com/info/our-complete-price-on-glasses

Thanks aniahill, I will ring them when they open at 10am, did a search online and the Asda in the next town no longer has an opticians so it's over 10 mikes to the next one.

I have had prescription sunglasses before and found it a pain to keep changing pairs, would be happy with just 1 pair.

I have been wearing contacts for a long time but illness means it looks like I will have to go back to glassess

Rang Morley my nearest store and they said thin lenses are 1.5?

Lady did not seem to know much and optician not in today. Although she did say if I wanted thinner again it would be £40 extra and £40 extra again for 'transitions' or what ever they used. So £160- £180 for a pair of thinner, varifocals with transitions which sounds good to me.

I am going for a sight test to my usual opticians Scrivans on Tues so will see what price they come out at, I think as a contact lens user I get £100 off a pair of glassess.
