One late CC payment - impact of Credit score?

Options
I stupidly missed my January credit card payment - it's been a manic month and it totally slipped my mind and I've not set up a DD for the minimum amount.

I got my letter/statement through yesterday and paid a chunk off right away.

What impact could this have on my credit score?

This is the first time I've done this in a long time but typically it couldn't have happened at a worst time when me and OH are looking to move home in the next 9 to 12 months and had only just gotten a mortgage in principle approved.

I'm absolutely kicking myself and wondered if there is anything I can do to rectify this or if I will be penalized?

I've never checked my credit score previously but I've never really had any issues in the past.

  • It is a small 'black mark' on your credit file. Whether this will matter to your mortgage application depends on the lender and how close the borderline you are for approval. If you have a decent deposit and a good income / loan ration, they probably won't care. If you have barely squeaked through, they might.

    Set up that DD today!!!!

How late was the payment? If you paid before they report to the CRAs then you might be ok.

I would sign up to noddle and see what it says.
