If no dates are showing (all greyed out), then your PC has created no Restore Points to restore to. Which indicates a possible malware infection or another issue.
What OS?No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you are using Windows 7, it is a bit buried.
Go to Control Panel > click on System > On the left of the screen select System Protection > click on System Restore and a wizard starts > on the second screen of the wizard tick the box 'Show More Restore Points' and all the Restore Points on your computer should be listed in date order. Select one and proceed with the wizard.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
Thank you Dave, I have done all that you have told me and ticked to show more restart options but when I do there's a date on there 30/01/2014. I think my granddaughter has done something . I can't seem to get past how I can alter the date it shows me it.0

As the Oblivion said you can choose different restore point if you are using window 7 but instead of opening control panel just click on start and type 'system restore' in search box. System restore will be open and you can select the restore point

No Amanda, you won't be able to alter that date. If no other entries are showing it's because they don't exist I'm afraid.

Tried this, managed to change date but then went to do a system restore and it went back to the original date that was there.0 -
