Help! word messing up!

They are not word documents. you are trying to open a file with word that word doesnt support.

save the file to your desktop open my computer
click tools,
folder options
the view tab
and remove the tick in the box next to hide file extention for known file types

return to the desktop and see what the full name of the file is somthing.pdf I expect reply witht he file name and I will help you further
