Recommendations Of Good All Inclusive Hotel Around Salou (Portaventura) Area Of Spain

Options
We (as a family) are back in the Salou area this year for the 5th time but am struggling to find a good/cheap all-inclusive hotel balance. We know the area of Salou etc but not the hotels, our first two visits were at the Portaventura & Carbie on-site hotels and last years visits were purely based on cost of the hotel rather than how good they were.

We have stayed in:
2009 Portaventura Hotel: Nice but expensive and only half board.
2010 Carbie Hotel: Again nice but expensive only half board
2013 Estival Park (La Pineda): OK hotel, busy and good evening entertainment but daytime entertainment was poor.
2013 Calypso Hotel: Budget hotel but good daytime/evening entertainment, Poor buffet restaurant but excellent snack bar.

We are considering the El Pass onsite Portavenura hotel but because of the price circa £300 per night, only for a few nights with the other nights (11 in total) spent elsewhere.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

The Golden Port Hotel is a nice AI, ... food was very good.Their sister hotel next door Golden Avenida is good but expensive only on Thomsons. We stayed last year at the Vi-la Romana, HB really nice hotel, food and very near to Portaventura. The H10 hotels HB or FB, they are also very good hotels. There are not that many AI in Salou.
  • Cheap and cheerful ones would be the Internacional II or the Best Hotel Mediterraneo but they're still around 35 mins walk away from PortAventura and may or may not be what you are looking for. They do offer entertainment that should suit, but you might find the buffet to be similar to the Calypso last year.

A good quality, but not extortionate all inclusive is the VillaMarina Club, around 30 mins walk away from PortAventura and walking distance to beach and centre, again good entertainment and very popular with the British market. The Golden Avenida Suites are currently number one on trip advisor and offer All Inclusive, similar distance away from the theme park but not too sure of the prices.

The majority of the better hotels only offer half board or full board so if you're a bit more flexible and would consider that then the Sol Costa Daurada is really close to PortAventura and is next door to the Caribe. Other good options that are nearby include H1O Salauris Palace, the Daurada Palace, H10 Salou Princess and the Villa Romana.

We always have liked the look of the H10 hotels but have been put of by the half board only option (the only half board hotels we have been to are the two Portaventura hotels). We know the quality of food isn't generally as good at All inclusive but it's the cost of drinks (mainly soft drinks) that put us off half board. With the prices of €2-3 euros each drink, we could easily spend over €100 per day just at the hotel on drinks.

Location wise isn't so important, There is quite good and cheap bus service around and the little train is also quite fun. If we got a good deal in Cap Salou/La Pineda, we would get a hotel there an travel or as mentioned stay at he on-site El Passo hotel for 4 nights and 'slum' it at a cheaper hotel for the other week.

I'll have a look at the suggestions of the VillaMarina Club and Golden Hotels. The only thing which has put me off though is 'popular with the British'. I'm not a snob and as a family we are now more into lazing around the pool but We have just recently returned from a cheap holiday at the Oasis Village at Fuerteventura and never before have we styed at a hotel where so much of the time It felt like we was on the set of Benidorm.
  • If you like daytime entertainment around the pool the villa romana is absolutely fantastic.Although evening isn,t so good.
although its not all inc you could grab a few large bottles for the drinks from the shops, very close to port aventura.
