One Way Travel insurance

Does anyone know a reputation and reasonably priced company for one way travel insurance?

I can't find many that offer it - downunder are the best at the minute, but if anyone knows anyone else that would be good.

Thanks.

I've just been looking at this today, myself.

I found Direct-travel (https://www.direct-travel.co.uk) and DUInsure (http://www.duinsure.com/sites/duinsure.nsf/homepages/homepage) to have the best prices (haven't looked at all the fine print yet), though Gotravelinsurance (http://www.gotravelinsurance.co.uk/) was also okay.

Most of the websites didn't have one-way insurance listed as an option (not that I could find, anyway!), so I ended up spending a while on saynoto0870 then phoning up for quotes. And you *really* want to avoid their 0870 numbers ... none of them seemed to understand that I only wanted a rough quote at this stage, and insisted on reading all of their very long scripts despite my initial comment that our family are in good health in every way.

Apparently DUInsure give a discount (5-10%) if booking online - you have to add one-way as an extension of your policy ... doesn't cost anything extra, it's just the way they've got it set up.

The companies I contacted were Travelinsuranceweb, Go Travel Insurance, Primary Insurance, Direct-Travel, Insure and Go, Atlas Direct, World Nomads, DUInsure.com, and Go-Walkabout. Tried the bank account/card route, but HSBC's travel is through Norwich Union, who informed me that they don't insure one-way.

Hope that helps, give me a shout if you want any more info.

I think I'm missing something here! Why can't you just say your holiday is a one or two day holiday to cover the travel?

Because several of the insurers have a clause that your travel has to begin and end in the UK. So if it's not ending in the UK, and you need to make a claim, they won't pay up.

Ah ha now I see, thanks for clearing that up for me, can't you get an annual policy then (assuming you are coming back?)

We're not planning to come back within the year, so a single trip's best for us.

Having lived in both countries for several years ... each has pros and cons. Looking forward to some things there, will miss others here. Hope you can make it out to Aus for a visit one day - well worth doing.
