Help help! Hard drive gone on laptop computer

Pease.
I think the hard drive has gone on my HighGrade laptop computer. When I switch on the computer it just makes a whistling sound with a blank screen. It did play up a bit before I turned it off. All the icons of my desk top went missing, so I restarted it but nothing would come on.
Please any help to recover any of my files.
Thanks

If you are getting nothing on the screen it doenst sound like a hard drive failure. normall drive failures result in error messages or failing to get in to windows.

the whistleing sound is also strange is it definatly a whistle and not a beep? do you get any beeps?

I have kit to recover laptop drives if your local to me I will help you out if I can.
