I always wonder with these 'family' holidays - can you still go if you're childfree?

Apart from the moral question (ie. is it fair to enter a 'family' comp if you don't have kids when the family comps are not as common as couple comps - I have kids so do enter, and correspondingly don't enter holiday comps advertised for 2 people)

..the Ts&Cs simply state: Prize is for a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children. Child ages are 11 years and under so if the child is 12 years or over then the winner would need to pay any difference in fare

At the end of the day, it's entirely up to you if you wish to enter and, should you win, that you are prepared to negotiate the outcome you want with the prize provider.
    HTH :D

I always wonder that too. I just tend to not enter if it states the number of adults and children, could do without the bun fight if I were to win!

The bun fight is usually very civilised in my experience.

I have won two major holidays via comping. One to NY & one to Vancouver. Both were for two adults when promoted.
I wanted to take a child on the trip so asked the promotors & it was fine.
On the NY trip I just gave up a $1000 SAKS voucher & on the Vancouver trip I just paid a child's airfare.

You'd think going without kids would be easier in some ways - it's less people they have to pay for. But I wonder if, as part of giving the prize, they're expecting to take pictures of a perfect 2.4 children family unit - which I am not!

Yes, they might want some publicity pics :rotfl:

Hey, it would be a nice dilemma to have should you be the lucky winner!! :D:D

To qualify my earlier post - no bun-throwing from over here, just congrats for whoever wins

[muses] maybe time I go have a look at the 2-people hols that are still live - and if I won, see if I can sneak my kids in on those! (thanks for the idea weeowens :A)

Good Luck all (whether you have kids or not ;))

  • I too wonder this as I am 2 adults and 1 child who is now over 12 and most comp are for 12 years and under - good to see this comp states regarding this - i hope that we would be able to negotiate regarding 1 child over 12 as apposed to 2 children under!
