Epson RX420 - Printer Working - Scanner Not

Hi, my mum has a RX420 Printer/Scanner that was working perfectly on Windows XP. Have just upgraded to Windows 7 and installed updated drivers through Windows update automatically using plug and play.
The printer seems to be working fine but when I click on the scanner icon it says that it is not communicating with the computer or similar. Checked the driver in device manager and it says it is working. It can't be the USB connections or cables as the printer is working. Any ideas anyone please? Thanks.

Do you need to select scan on the printer? Mines the 620. I choose scan on the printer and it launches epson scan on the computer.
Check device manager for missing driversCensorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi, thanks. I already mentioned that the scanner driver was working on device manager. I think I do need to go down the trying buttons on top of the scanner next although have never had to do this before in the 5 years she has had the scanner. Yes, we may have to get a new one but it was working perfectly before upgrading to Windows 7.0

You said the printer driver. Scanner driver is different.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I didn't say the printer driver. Obviously I checked the scanner driver in device manager as the printer part was already working. To clarify, the scanner driver is working in device manager but the scanner is not communicating with the computer. I think I will have to try using the installation disc rather than letting Windows 7 updates do it in case the twain part is missing. Thanks.0

Have had a reply from the Epson Facebook page advising me to install the Vista driver http://esupport.epson-europe.com/FileDetails.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=nKGrQtfEm6nklAFAU002FI5XulUnXahGGzFymQyp3UZx8RYU003D&id=31730 as there is no Windows 7 driver so will try that. However, this may already be installed as Windows 7 updates should have installed the latest drivers via plug and play.0

On my px 710 all in one printer printer worked fine but scanner wouldn't work with win 7 I had to download stand alone epson scan from the epson site, scanner now works may be worth a try. It is listed for your printer at the epson website http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=nKGrQtfEm6nNz3obw9HJkFaK1TjzItzn&tc=60

Yes, thanks. The only problem is that there is no driver for Windows 7 32 Bit so have been advised to try the Vista driver which I will do tomorrow.0
