CPP Card Compensation.

I had Card protection with CPP from 18/5/1994 until 20/5/2005.
I have just contacted CPP, and they tell me that because the last payment to them was in 2004 ( Direct Debit ) I will not be covered for any compensation, even though the policy was in force in 2005.
Anyone had similar issues and is there any alternative avenues to explore please ?
