Where to advertise for staff?

I have a part-time position vacant in my business, just a few hours a week. I am not sure where to advertise. Last time I used the local press there was little response and it was expensive.
What are the best on line sites to use? I have registered with Indeed for free. I am prepared to pay if it is effective. Any tips please?

Depends what skill set you want. Gumtree can be reasonable for basic staff0

Ask yourself, if you were looking for such a job, where would you first look.0 -
if you're a charity, the charityjob.co.uk is by far the market leader. I got my local part time job off it, so it does cover a wide range of opportunities.0

We find Gumtree quite good for basic jobs too. If it's the kind of thing which could fit around student hours / life, then I'd look for your local college / university jobshop website: our two local ones both allow free registration.
If it's the kind of thing which would only attract very local staff, then postcards in shop windows will be cheaper than your local paper.
Remember to ask people where they saw the advert: it will help you know where to use next time.
Oh, forgot to say the Job Centre is free. Whether it will be effective for you is another matter, you may find you get completely unsuitable applicants trying to fill their quotas, and continue to get responses long after the advert has expired. But it may work for you: I hope my experience isn't typical ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
