Confused by e.on

Hi

E.on rep are you there?

I read my meters duel fuel and put results in online, generally once a week to fortnight.

I now have a letter from e.on stating the rates etc are wrong, and they will be corrected, and I won;t need to pay under estimated (all well and good)

I look on line at my account so I can see what the problem is / was but cannot find any thing, (I agree I may have missed it)

So please can you tell me in simple English what is wrong with the reading / and am I still on the right taiff.

And is all this my error or e.on.

    Sorry we've confused you.

    Do you have a two rate meter?

    If you do, we could be looking at a transposed meter reading issue. This is where the day and night readings are being billed the wrong way round.

    We've a specialist team who deal with these matters and, I suspect, these are the guys who sent the letter.

    They'll correct your account and, if we've overcharged you, credit your account with the difference. However, if we've undercharged you, we won't be asking for any more to cover past bills. Future bills may be higher, though.

    None of this will be on your online account at the moment.

    I'm guessing a bit here kazwookie but, if you drop an email to the address in my Profile, I'll be happy to take a proper look for you.

    Sorry Malc, did I just read that correctly.. " if we have undercharged you we wont be asking you for payment " Are you sure thats correct ? Eon could be scrubbing many thousands of pounds underpayment ( like a poster a couple of days ago ). The profits your company are losing there are enormous for just one household. No wonder Eon are in a dire financial state and rumoured to be joining that other German failure Npower to survive, ( and dump many customers at the same time ).
    If its true that Eon scrub ALL transposed bills which customers are disadvantaged by, can you assure me that Eon will make good all the customers free energy back to repay the National Grid and not hide it away somehow to expect the rest of us, via higher prices, to pick up the bill. I m sure you ve got it wrong, none of the other suppliers are so free and easy with other peoples money as they all attempt to recoup even if its Eons meter readers fault ,or the customers lack of knowledge in reading their own meters. I await your reply before contacting OFGEM about this.

    As promised, I've received confirmation from the top brass that my earlier post about transposed meter readings was correct.

    Just to re-iterate, where we've billed too much on the day rate, we'll credit back anything that's been overcharged.

    If we've billed too much on the cheaper night rate and undercharged a customer, we won't change any past bills.

    With transposed readings, the actual volume of settlement is correct.

    Where we're settling too high on one register, we'll be settling too low on the other register. The total used, though, will be the same.

    If for any reason we've been overcharged or undercharged by the Distributor, we use an industry wide process to put this right. This is overseen by an independent organisation relied on by Ofgem to manage settlements.

    Hope this clarifies what we do in these cases.
