Aw so sorry to hear your sad news
Lost my poor doglet suddenly last August and still miss him every day even though we have a new young man who is learning to fill the big pawprints left by his predecessor. They don't live long enough do they so we will always have these heart-rending moments in return for the years of fun and love they give us. "'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

At times like this i find a poem can ease the pain.I hope so,i know how raw the pain can be.
I Stood By Your Bed Last Night
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew, in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.0 -
Thank you all for your kind words. The poems have brought on more tears! It's nice to hear from fellow pet lovers as I suspect some of my friends really don't see what th fuss is about. You're all so kind x0

We had to say goodbye to our last dog 6 years ago and couldn't have another due to health problems at the time.
The poems stilll make me cry,for her and for all owners and their beloved dogs. But the raw pain does go and you are left with only happy memories.0 -
So sorry about your dog. Unimaginable pain. People who don't appreciate the significance of losing an animal are not true animal lovers in my opinion. It's not something you can sweep under the carpet.
I lost my last dog in May of last year. It was very sudden and he was only three and a half. I was completely lost without him. I've got another one now but not a day goes past without me thinking of him and his tragically short life.
Chin up, chuck.
