Repositioning of fuse box

Anyone think it is a bad idea to have the main house's fuse box in an integral garage to a house?
I'm more concerned about safety, i suppose if someone broke into the garage it makes it a lot easier for them to switch of the power to the various home security system, even though it will be under battery backup and still activate when armed. Any other thoughts? The garage is water tight from the outside so no issues there.

Every time a bulb bows and takes out the RCD or MCB, you'l have to trek to the garage. But no worse than mine, which is in the cellar. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I thought the latest consumer units dont have that problem anymore ie bulbs blowing and knocking the RCD out?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

If security is your main concern, where is your metre?
Could all power not be turned off from there?0 -
Bit complicated. Multiple meters but some in the garage and another meter in the house. Thinking of putting all in garage.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

My parent's house has the fuse box in the integral garage.
They have lived there nearly 35 years and, so far, they haven't been murdered in their bed. Nor have their neighbours, who also have fuse boxes in their garages.0 -
I put my consumer unit in the garage when I built the house. About 25 years ago I converted the double garage into a flat. So now the CU is in the shower room of the flat. It's a bit of a trek when I need the power off to do work. But so what!
If you think that burglars are going to waste their time mucking about with the power, you are forgetting that their main idea is to be in and out again in just a few minutes.
Very unlikely that they would bother with anything else than a quick jemmy of a door or window.
As to why people need to continually reset their trips, I can only say that I have only had to do it once in 37 years, and that was because I inadvertently shorted a circuit the I was working on while it was live.
I would add that I was electrician in a former life, so working on live circuits was not too much of a problem for me. Not saying that others should do this.
To date we have not been murdered in our beds either. That sort of worrying smacks a bit of paranoia.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
