    Hi njb73

We'd like to help you out here.

Please email wr@barclaycard with all the details, the address your Barclaycard is registered to and a number we can reach you on.

    Thanks

    Toni

The power of the internet, eh?!

Hope all goes well for you, OP. Incidentally, you might think of applying for an Amex (doesn't matter which one) as they are very good at dealing with travel related problems.

Last year some pickpocketing toe rag nicked my wallet in Beijing. I had an MBNA card, an Amex and a HSBC card with me. HSBC and MBNA cancelled the cards but said they could only send replacements to my UK billing address - Amex had a replacement card couriered to my hotel reception desk in about 24hrs and my new PIN was available to view online the same day. In that incident I did have a debit card in the hotel room safe but if I hadn't it could have very easily screwed me up completely. That incident alone will probably ensure that I always have at least one Amex card on the go.

    Good luck resolving it.

A reminder to all of us to take a backup card with us when overseas. And a backup to the backup.

Different banks and ideally a mix of MasterCard, Visa and Amex.

I find it hard to believe that people go abroad with one solitary payment method. Yes, it should work, but to rely on it... foolish.

Sorry I can't be of more help than to say make sure to take a number of different providers cards, and a mix of Visa and M/C (as O4U says).

But for the OP, I am sorry for the loss of your holiday :(

I don't travel abroad much or have an AMEX (yet!) but I'll bear this in mind

My wife had similar problems in NZ a couple of weeks ago. To get through security after a problem had been flagged and locked her Santander DC she was asked the amount of a direct debit on the account - this after answering the personal data and password / PIN questions and identifying the companies to whom the DDs were made. I don't know about other people but we don't memorise the amounts of DDs and had no access to the information as we were on the other side of the world, 13 hours time difference and no internet access. Computer said "No" though, we had to phone again to see if we would be asked other questions which we could answer - 2nd call had the same questions, 3rd call just asked if there was anyone else named on the account. Eventually we got them to unlock the card but only after we had wasted 3 hours of precious holiday time getting to that point.

We did have cards on other accounts that we could use in an emergency but this was the one where we had the money for our holiday budget.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
