Sick of processed food need help!

Options
Was just thinking the other day almost everything me and partner eat either comes from a packet or tin and it can't be doing us any good. Problem is I'm stuck on what to make that is easy and good for us. If someone could do me a meal plan for a week that was stuff cooked from scratch but that is quite quick and easy (i.e. can cook in slow cooker or doesn't take long to make) that would be great. Or if anyone has any recipes to try. The meal plan only needs to be for dinner really as we both are out of the house for lunch. However any ideas for unprocessed sandwich fillings that will keep in fridge for 2 or 3 days would be great too.

thanks in advance for any help but obviously any tips will be getting the thanks button too lol :T

    Hi smiler,

If you have a look at The Complete Menu Plans Collection it should give you some inspiration with menu planning.

Also these threads might help to give you sandwich filling ideas:

    Hi

I can't post any direct recipes at the moment, but I can definitely recommend batch cooking, if you have the time. I had my OS lightbulb moment a couple of months ago, and I have spent a fair few weekends in between cooking fabulous meals for the family, but making far too much :) This means that we can eat well in the week too! For example, tonight we are having HM lasagne which I cooked about 3 weeks ago, this made one meal fresh, and four to freeze. Each of these will feed all four of us. It can be hard work, especially when I work full time and then seem to spend all weekend cooking, but it really is worth it (and it's not every weekend, and certainly not all of it!)

When I was in uni I started with making my own pasta sauce which is so easy, it kind of grew from there really! Things like fajitas really dont need much at all, shepherds pie is another very basic meal wo begin with.

Its hard starting from scratch but very basic things like chicken salad can taste great and dont really require cooking skills!

    Sunday Roast chicken

Monday Savoury mince and potatoes or cottage pie

Tuesday Cold chicken, baked spuds and salad

    Wednesday Chicken and rice salad

    Thursday Pasta with tomato-tuna sauce

    Friday sausage and mash

Saturday salmon (or other fish) fillets with new potatoes and salad

No slow cooker things there I'm afraid, but all quick to prepare. You'd need to buy a chicken, half a pound of mince, some sausages and a couple of salmon fillets.

Quick puds fruit salad made from a tin of peaches, a tin of pineapple and some fresh fruit like grapes and melon -should last you 2-3 meals.

Sliced bananas, sultanas, brown sugar and whipped cream (or yogurt).

A 100g bar of chocolate melted with a carton of single cream stirred in.

I really enjoy easy cook magazine which comes out every couple of months. can usually be picked up in Tesco, Sainsbury or WHSmiths. Recipes are usually very quick and easy to do. I've been collecting it since it started and keep them all in plastic covers as they get so much use.
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
