Total Loss Help - Liverpool Victoria

Hi Folks.

We have a much loved and enjoyed Toyota Townace.

Involved in an accident outside our house - not our fault - honest.

Bodywork damage just in front of o/s rear wheel and both rear alloys damaged (was pushed sideways into kerb). Other driver refuses to accept liability. We are fully comp.

This Townie was/is a superb example of the marque - 4WD Royal Lounge. Original everything/bodywork/paintwork - no rust or marks/dents - apart from this accident.

Liverpool Victoria (Frizzell) arranged for vehicle to be taken to their repairer - some 25 miles away. Estimate for repair £2800.

So they have declared it a Cat C total loss and offered us £1400 !!

There is no way we can replace this standard of vehicle for anywhere near that.

So I asked if I could buy it back - and get it repaired cheaper (they will continue to insure it with a new MOT). They said yes - but their percentage is 85% - yes 85% - of the value they are offering. They gave me the figs - we get £1400 - they take back £1190 (85% of this) and the £100 excess - we are left we an undrivable car and £110 !!! Plus we have to pay to get the car back home and pay to repair it! So we get nothing!!

Why do we have insurance??? How can it be so unfair when it was not our fault?

We just want our Townie back on the road :(

Anyone got any experience of Liverpool Victoria in terms of the % of write-off value they want?
I say barkeep -put at little more ice in there will you - theres a good chap. :)

    ABSOLUTE TRIPE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

salvage figures range from 8% to a max of 20 % a cat d is light damage and would command 14% approx..

cat c should be 12% max

Refuse their offer in writing and give examples to replace the car from Autotrader etc if possible. If they still don't give you a decent offer then tell them to find you the equivalent car themselves. Also threaten the FOS on them as it will cost them £400 if you make a complaint.
