Delay in this quarter's PV payments

I submitted my 31st December PV reading by email to SSE, had no acknowledgement so got in touch earlier this week, only to be told they are running a 'few weeks late' with their payments. I thought they had to pay us within 30 days? Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe I need to switch from SSE?
