Hi
Lookking to buy carpet for a high traffic front room , two dogs , two kids , you get the idea
When we rented a house a few years ago , the LL had carpet put down that neverf seemd to look dirty , and the day we left , two years later , it looked the same as when it was installed!
It was very very short pile , as in , you could hardly stroke it or anything , it was fawn/brown , flecky and it was absolutley perfect
Now we own our own home , we are keen to get a carpert like this , anyone have any ideas on what this is called ?
Having read a bit i think `twist pile` ??
cheers

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

At £5.75 a sq m you may quickly become disappointed.
High traffic areas need decent carpets. A top quality 80:20 wool/nylon mix will last decades with little wear and can be cleaned regularly. Expect to pay around £20 per sq m.0 -
I see what your saying , but who wants the same carpet for decades ?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

You may not want it decades, but you want it to be suitable for high traffic areas. With this requirement you need to buy quality.0

Why not go for anti-slip vinyl instead? I bought a lovely one about 6 years ago that is still going0

I can't think of anything worse than vinyl in a living room!
You can buy decent quality carpet online for much less than £20 a sq metre....just go into a carpet shop, have a look at the samples, and then order same or similar online...much cheaper.
You also need to have it scotch guarded to prevent stains, and to have good underlay too , that is hugely important and stops the carpet from wearing0 -
thanks all.....Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0
