Re-artexing bathroom ceiling

Hi there,
Can someone tell me how much i should pay for re-artexing and painting a bathroom ceiling 2 x 2 metres square? (old artex will need scraping off due to leak). The place is in St Albans if that makes a difference to price
If it needs new plaster boards (2x2) how much extra would that cost?
Your help would be greatly appreciated. No idea what this would cost really.....

You want to put back Artexing? Surely not.0

What?!
Artex is not something you re-do.0 -
I'll add to that. Just had all my upstairs ceilings removed because they were literally 'dripping' with the stuff. Just waiting for new plasterboard and plaster now. Disgusting stuff.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0

I steamed mine off myself with a wallpaper steamer, one hell of a mess but so glad to see it go.0

Just had 2 rooms de-artexed thankfully. Done through Insurance so no idea on cost, but would never want it back. If its really old artex, may contain asbestos like mine did, so the company might have to test it and have a licensed asbestos contractor in. I would have thought easiest way is to get it all off, and plaster board/plaster for a nice smooth finish. I've heard that the steamer idea works, although it might be hard on a ceiling. Whatever you do, don't start sanding it down.
ALternatively, they might be able to board over it, depending on condition of artex and design.0 -
just get it plastered ,0

Apart from the fact that Artex is something that was invented by satan himself, you may be lucky to find an artexer!
It's an old trade and most of the guys doing it are retired now. Many olasterers have never been trained to do it and some won't touch it.
In response to your question, removal of the existing plasterboard, re boarding and skimming is a days work on a room this size. Expect to pay around the £300 mark.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
