How many here work in the motor trade ?

Just out of curiosity really.

I joined MSE as I'm trying to buy our first house and found the mortgage section rather interesting and helpfull.

But now I'm looking at more areas of the forum.

Seeing as i work in the motor trade this seems a good area to have a nose about in !

I'm a technician and have worked with Mgrover, Hyundai, BMW (my longest job to date) then VW and now Mercedes Benz.

Like I said, just out of interest :beer:

33 years in motor trade.
Left school and did 6 months basic engineering course at college.
Then 3 months working at college doing trainee technician( not motor trade)
Then got start at a small family run garage as apprentice, served time and worked there 10 years.
Left to start own business, now 23 years self employed running own garage servicing, repairing and mot testing cars and motorcycles.

I'm 13 years in... 3 year apprenticeship straight from school at 16 with Rover.

I used to be, but not anymore. 2 years full time at college whilst working Saturdays in a garage.
Left college and got a full time apprenticeship....dealership messed me around and eventually left after 1 year.

Still work on and read up on vehicle mechanics a lot as a hobby though.
