Credit Agency and New Name!

Hi guys,

A Pal of mine has good credit rating. She married few years ago but have not changed her name. She went to change her names today in all the bank she uses.

She went to Santader today to open a current account but was denied ''everyday current account'' quoting experian. They eventually open a cashcard account for her.

What happens when one change name?

Nothing applications ask for your maiden name or any other names you have been known by and this should create a link to your old file and new name...so shouldn't cause a decline in theory.

Do you know if she told Santander of the name change before she put her application in? I would also think she would need to update her name with her local council as they provide electoral role data to CRA's and lenders use electoral role data to verify your identity and address.
