Changing moisturiser - combo skin

Hello
I think I need to change moisturiser as my current one, Gorgeous by Lush is not doing things well enough to justify the cost (39.99). I've got combination skin - greasy T zone and normal cheeks and I've worked my way through all their options and Gorgeous was the last option.
However, having aving researched the issue briefly I've found that I could buy a high end moisturiser for a similar price which seems mad!
Any advice or recommendations?
The names that have been mentioned are:
dermological / lancome / L'Occtine / Orgins but then I'm not sure how to go about trying them out or is it just trial and error?

I'm a Clarins girl myself, and the girls on their counters are very good at helping you choose what's right for your skin, they even let you take a sample home to try sometimes. I would think that the other high end brands with counters/shops would be the same.
I would set aside an afternoon and do a trawl of the local department stores for some 'hands on research'
However if the Lush philosophy is important to you, I'd go for Dermalogica, Elemis or Decleor. None of whom perform any animal testing
Try QVC for the above brands, never used them myself so I can't vouch for their suitability, but these brands seem to get good reviews.

I love Liz Earle light.0

I love Clarins Hydraquench Gel for Normal / Combination Skin and agree with Craftywitch if you check it out with girls at the beauty counter they will let you try it or might give you a sample. I always shop around and wait until I see a good deal or gifts with purchases in Dept stores, but ordinarily around it will be around 34 quid full price.Mortgage

Thanks for all the advice. I'm just wondering how to go about doing some "hands on research," should I ask at the counter and get them to try it out or give me a sample and then just work my way around all the counters... I feel very cheeky!
I'm concerned that I might actually be causing the problem by using other products I am using or that I am expecting too much.
Currently I use Herbalism facewash each day x 2
Home made toner - boiled water + 2-3 drops lavender oil / tea tree oil / coriander seed x 2 a day
Repairwear laser focus (Clinique) serum x 2 a day
Coalface x 2 a week on T zone, fresh pharmacy to wash off any that is absorbed
Moisturiser - until recently Gorgeous for the daytime, or Full of Grace for night time
I'm looking at overhauling my entire regime if need be.0 -
Bin them all!!!
Benzole peroxide 5% from pharmacist, approx £5, for spotty areas of face. Google acne regime for more info. For me, works best to use this once a day.
Jojoba oil, £16 ish from Holland and Barrett. This is 100% jojoba oil, there r no other ingredients. Not a buav approved brand - but I'm sure you can get a buav approved jojoba oil. I use this twice a day on my face - combination skin, but the Benzole peroxide has really dried my facial skin.
When I use this on my face, there is often an excess - not as easy as a cream to apply. Excess comes off easily with cotton wool pad
I also use the jojoba oil on my hands. Every winter they dry out so much my knuckles and other bits bleed.
I have used this regime for 2 months. No spots for 7 weeks - longest time in 20 years. Open pores on my nose are smaller then I ever remember. My hands haven't bled in 2 months. This is the first winter in 15 years that I've managed more then a week.
My skin is practically perfect!
I have bn on the pill, dianette and other for my skin. Used creams for hands and face from lancome (sp?) Clarins, body shop, burts bees, own brands - EVERYTHING! Nothing has come close.
Both products are very dense, last ages so r u cost effective.:j got married 3rd May 2013 :beer:0 -
Im on olay regenerist now, holding back the years!!!!
But when I was younger, I loved this.
Its not even very expensive op.
I swopped to Olay when my skin seemed to have cleared up. Got about three months grace then my seb derm flared up BIG time
Ive tried them all, Liz Earle is the only one for me, with the Decleor ylang ylang on the sides of my face that are so very dry0 -
Another vote for making your own custom formulation. Nothing can suit you as well as something you tailor to your own skin. After some experimentation it should work out good value.
There are essential oils which can be beneficial, anti aging and restoring to the skin if mixed with quality oils.
I have been attempting to reduce a scar and although I got some essential oils, but not all the ones that I need, plus some oils, I did not have anywhere to mix them. Today I am expecting delivery of some small glass jars which I intend using to mix something up to make it quicker and easier to apply. I have not been doing it often enough due to time required and the nuisance of not being able to keep it to hand.
I've ordered some jars, bottles and plastic containers from ampulla. I do intend mixing up some toothpaste as well after I receive the storage container.0 -
Try rose hip seed oil.I have never had a moisturizing regime so now in my 40s I thought I may as well give one a go.I don't like anything synthetic or expensive, prefer as natural as possible. I researched different oils and rose hip seed oil impressed me for it's benefits.
Don't get me wrong I don't look 20 or 30 something but my skin feels silky soft ,blemish free.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0 -
I used to spend a small fortune on clinique skin products but couldn't afford the ridiculous prices, so went into the boots in meadowhall and asked one of the assistants on the skincare section for advice. On her recommendation I've been using eucerin facewash, toner, moisturiser and eye serum at half the cost of clinique with great results. My skin is much healthier looking and feels much better. I still use coldcream to remove makeup on the rare occasion I wear itwading through the treacle of life!
debt 2016 = £21,000. debt 2021 = £0!!!!0
