Wife buying house cash - no share if divorced???

Hi Guys,

Genuinely for a friend...if only I could afford it!!!

My friend is in a relatively new marriage which hasn't had the best start shall we say.

Her parents are looking to GIVE her the cash to buy a house (in England if that makes a difference).

However, she is wondering if there is a way to buy the house and ensure that should the marriage break-up that her husband is not entitled to anything.

It's not the best situation but she really wants to make a go of the marriage without getting stung should it fail (particularly due to her husband's behaviour!).

I've no idea if it's even possible to keep something like a house owned solely by one party...but any help/advice greatly appreciated!

The parents don't want "any hassle" regards the house - i.e. they want daughter to be fully independent (just mortgage free).

Go and live in USA and sign a Pre-nup agreement.

Otherwise all assets, however owned, will be up for grabs in the divorce courts.

The whole point of marriage (as I understand it!) is that it is about co-joining your lives, trusting each other, sharing everything, till death us do ...... and all that.
