NIP No seatbelt
Not mine, I am the Fleet Manager for a local authority, so all NIPs come to me. I have a statutory duty to identify the driver
Received two NIPs today for failing to wear a seat belt, same date, same vehicle, times are four minutes apart. Is this usual?
Thanks in anticipation

I would think only one of them is valid. It's the same offense, but picked up by two separate cameras. I would write / phone the issuer and appeal one of them on the grounds it's the same offense by the same driver just a few minutes apart. All your base are belong to us.0

I would just reply to both with the same name and let the driver sort it out when they come back to him - he created the problem by (allegedly) not wearing his belt. I would imagine your job is busy enough already.0

They don't need a nip for a seatbelt offence but have made a requirement under section 172. Failing to respond to that is trouble so send them both off.0

Thanks for the advice
Yes I will return both, not my remit to challenge, that's the drivers. My statutory duty to supply drivers name and address.
Just wondered out of curiosity as I thought it unfair, but yes their fault for no wearing0 -

Could be two occasions, there may have been a break in the journey.0 -
If the driver calls them, it'll get classed as a "continuous offence" so it'll only one Conditional Offer / fine.
Also no guarantee he was actually seatbeltless, it can be quite hard to tell on certain models of car if the driver is wearing black.0 -

When did points come out for no seatbelt?
Came out of habbit as usually when discussing the "continuous offence" thing, it's relating to speed offences. Edited to correct now, thank you.Building_Surveyor wrote: »When did cameras detect no seatbelts?
