Just looking for some advice please, recently split with dh and moved out of our house to rented house with my 2 young sons. I had ppm in my house but they were unable to fit in rented house.
I'm trying to keep an eye on the gas use as I know I use quite a bit! Whilst waiting and ringing n power asking for a card to be sent to make payments which after 4 months still hasn't arrived!!! I've now got a bill for £500 for sept-jan. Landlord got new boiler fitted 2 weeks ago and the metre is moving 10 units each week. Is this about right?? And is it possible for me to work out the cost of 10 units??? Many thanks

There are two types of meter.
Imperial which measures in cubic feet - a gas unit is 100 cubic feet and approx. 32kWh - so 10 gas units with gas @ 4p/kWh would be about £13.
Metric which measures in cubic metres and a gas unit is approx. 11.2 kWh - so 10 units would cost about £4.50.
You are probably being charged a daily Standing Charge which could be anything from zero to 50p a day.
A new meter is pretty certainly Metric(Imperial are really old) so 10 units a week doesn't sound correct0 -
My bill says new price effective from 1st dec
2198kwh at 4.475 per kwh = £98.36, then a standing charge of £12.33. Thanks for your help0
