Hi all, I have noticed that when I look at photos on a Microsoft Surface 2 they are very clear, and do not deteriorate whatever angle I look at the screen, unlike my 3 year old laptop.
What laptops are available with the same sort of screen as the surface 2.

The surface pro has a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
There are many laptops out there which match the bill, Dell, Apple, Lenovo all do a few. They tend to be on the higher price range than those with a standard 1024 x 768 screen. Have a look on somewhere like Amazon, Currys, John Lewis or the Dell/Lenovo/Apple website and they'll list the resolution of the screen.Better to keep silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

'Clear' would be resolution as mentioned above. 1920x1080 would be called Full HD on a TV. When you're talking about the angle you look at the screen, you're talking about an old (possibly not very good) LCD screen versus one of the latest (and by reviews, very good) LCD screens. Viewing angles have always been a weakness for LCD, but especially on mobile devices, they've got a lot better. The glossy screen on the Surface, compared to I guess a matte (not glossy) screen on your laptop, will also be making the pictures look like they have better contrast.
Fortunately, you'll find that loads of laptops will have screens as good as, or better than the Surface 2. You can certainly beat the resolution, not that you really need to at, say 15". Many Apple laptops have insanely high resolution 'retina displays' which means the pixels are not detectable by the human eye at a normal viewing distance. I'm sure plenty of other manufacturers are catching up if they haven't already, but I'm sure Full HD would be fine anyway.
Go and have a look at screens. You will want IPS, and LED mightn't improve the picture, but will help with battery life and thinness.0
