    Mmm so I thought.

I have just phoned up to renew my dogs insurance and wanted to know why there was such a difference between the online price and the renewal price - I was told that because I hadn't declared that my Jack Russell was a crossbreed I have , for the past 4 years been paying extra to cover a Pedigree Jack Russell !!!

Foolishly I thought that Jack Russells were crossbreeds by default.

It's the Parsons Russell, not Parsons Jack Russell which is recognised.

Pet insurance is a nightmare. i've been trying to get a quote for my monrel (lab x rottie cross) and even though you enter she's a crossbreed they want to know which breed she resembles the most!

I have a Rottie x (GSD, we've beeen told, though you can't be sure as she doesn't really have the traits of one) and on all my policies with various insurers she's just been crossbreed (sometimes 'large crossbreed'). I've been claiming for two different conditions, for the past year or so, and never had any problems with claims.

I'm currently with AXA, who aren't taking on new customers so can't recommend them unfortunately, but I've used Direct Line and Sainsburys in the past. Probably one or two others but can't think off the top of my head who.

I'm cross because for the past 4 years,I have been paying extra on insurance for having a 'pedigree Jack Russell' - when there is no such thing!

I wonder if they will reimburse me?

I would certainly write an email or letter if I were you. From what I can see you are fully entitled to a reimbursement. You could possible contact trading standards - see if they may be able to help? Depending on the wording of the page you put your details into, etc.
