I thought that I would carry out a rough survey and see how many of us are electing to keep Verizon shares or selling them over the offer period.0

im not sure. i am fairly sure i will keep Vodafone. at the moment i am minded to keep the Verizon shares too, with them appearing to be decent value, but with a view to selling out at what seems to be a good point in the coming weeks/months. whereas Vodafone could remain a long-term holder for me.0

I sold my VOD shares at the start of 2014.
I tried looking at the situation with Verizon and the decision about whether to keep their shares; how I would be able to do that and remain within the rules for owning US shares; the so-called windfall and the halving of shares to balance that; plus VOD's future prospects.....
There was so much uncertainty and complexity that in the end I decided to be happy with what I had (a 48% profit + a dividend to come) and get out.
I'm not saying others should do the same -- it's your call. But sometimes I find uncertainty more trouble than it's worth, and especially when there is a profit available for banking."I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0 -
fair enough. i added to my holding and am now 30%up overall.0

These 'B/C share' returns of capital all seem to suggest that you can buy up to 4:30pm on the last day, with the Record Time set at, say, 6pm on that day (VOD are suggesting 6pm on 20 Feb).
If so, how does this work, when I thought you had to buy three days ahead to get onto the share register?
Is it done retrospectively? And, if so, when would I be able to sell my 'New Shares'?0 -

Good luck! Hope it works out -- whatever happens, I'm more than happy with the return I had, so I hope the VOD-holders continue to do well and we'll all be happy."I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0 -
The only gain to be made from Vodafone was the lead up to the annoucement. What is happening now is simply a return of your capital.0

Most likely sell Verizon in the medium term. However,
My VOD shares are held in a SIPP so should receive dividends gross with no deduction of withholding tax. So should the yield be attractive I may well hold for the longer term.0 -
