Cost of Boiler Replacement

Any idea how much it would cost to replace a combi boiler? I'm based in Merseyside, and its for a 3 bed semi with 7 radiators.

I'm going to call a local company for a price but don't know what to expect.

Our existing one is 14 years old and whilst its ok, there has been an intermittent problem over the past two years with BG don't seem to be able to sort out.

It also doesnt appear to have any way to set the temperature, just a dial from 1 - 10. All the radiators have themostatic controls on them but they too are only labelled with numbers 1 - 5. Its also not ideal for a family as you cannot run two taps at the same time - so if you want to wash your hands upstairs you have to ensure no one runs the tap downtairs!

Thanks

My prices for a WB 30si ranged from £2990 (6 year warranty) to £3285 (8 year warranty), including flush, 7 new radiators and valves, magnetic filter, thermostat, new gas run (needed as house is 1971) and fitting a gas fire, tap and replacing a toilet syphon. The none boiler related work was under £100. This is in North Staffordshire.

ive just paid £1200 for a baxi combi with 7 year guarantee fitted by my local plumber
it was like for like fitting onto pipes so no new pipework or radiators needed, although he did put in some new inhibitor liquid. approx 4 hours work
id shop around if I was you, get a few quotes,
just realised mine is a condensing boiler, not sure if this is same thing?

If you need hot water at two points a combi may not be the best option. You are potentially in to major work to go back to a system with seperate hot water system.

An alternative is to look at a combi with an onboard hot water storage vessel such as a Vaillant ecotec plus 937.

That's just how a combi orks - the hot tap is always affected by a hot or cold tap somewhere else in the house.

Also why does the numbering matter on the boiler/rads?

Our boiler was nunumbered 1-10 and the manual said something like "1-4 summer/mild "5-8 winter" " 9-10 sever cold"

The thermostatic controls adjust the heat -1 is low and 5 is ......high :D

Do you really need to know what that the absolute temperature in the house is ?! "set the boiler to 294.15K please deidre" :)

agree with this - you'll need to install a tank or immersion water heater in order to prevent each tap being effected by other users.
  • Much the same as above...I paid £1000 for a Baxi Duo Tech with a 7yr warranty. Was also a L4L fitting, though had some work done to the flue and a safety check included.

& thats the reason they didn't do the job properly
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
